System Components
The WMS Wideband O2 System comes with the following:
 |
WMS Wideband controller / display. This all-in-one unit is small (2.4" x 1.5" x .8") and is easily
mounted on the dash. It weighs less than 3oz and has a large, easy-to-read four-digit readout.
|
 |
Bosch LSU 4.2 sensor. Bosch technical information states the useful service life of the Bosch sensor itself is
100,000 miles or 10 years. Note: leaded fuel is not recommended with any O2 sensor and it will severely shorten the
life of the O2 sensor. With lead content of .6 g/l drops sensor life to 15,000 miles.
|
 |
Main wiring harness from controller to sensor. Large black plug for Bosch O2 sensor. The small end plugs into the
back of the control box. Power and ground wires feed into the car's main wiring harness.
|
 |
RPM wiring harness. White wire used to simulate narrow band O2 sensor. Purple is for 0-5 volt output signal to SDS
unit (if applicable; see below). Orange wire for RPM signal to control box. Green wire for external dataloggers.
|
 |
Datalogging cable plugs into side of control box with one end and into a laptop with the other. |
System Features
- Works with EFI and carbureted applications.
- Excellent tool for monitoring AFR on engine and chassis dynamometers.
- Very easy installation - the main harness plugs into the controller / display and the sensor with only a power and ground wire
to connect to function.
- Large LED display is easy to read when dash mounted and provides excellent real time monitoring of AFR. This allows easy
monitoring without connecting the datalogging.
- Logs RPM as well as AFR, can accept RPM signal from most tachometer signals, ignition boxes, stock coil packs or
coil-on-plug ignition systems. RPM input can be calibrated with our software.
- All digital circuitry and surface mount technology for the most compact all in one controller / display on the market. Size is
2.4" x 1.7".
- Weight is under 3oz.
- Uses the 2-wire calibration resistor built into the sensors by Bosch, this is a much more accurate method of calibration than
the free air method that other systems use.
- Accuracy to 1% , which is the inherent accuracy of the sensor itself.
- Datalogging software and cable is included with system. This allows datalogging and analysis of the data on a laptop with
virtually unlimited amounts of data that can be stored.
- 0-5 volt output works with most aftermarket fuel injection systems or dataloggers
- 0-1 volt signal for OEM computers, emulates the stock narrowband O2 sensor. This allows you to remove the stock O2 sensor and
replace with the wideband sensor.

Bosch LSU 4.2
Wideband O2 Sensor

The Bosch LSU 4.2 wideband O2 sensor is a planar ZrO2 dual cell sensor with an integrated heater. It
is used to measure the oxygen contents and the lambda-value of engine exhaust gases. Its monotonic output signal in in relation to
air makes the LSU capable of being used as an universal sensor (image source: Bosch Y 258 K01 005-000e).
