Summer 2024
Project Guerrillzilla is underway!
With the popularity of the new 7.3 Godzilla engine we knew we had to swap one into something... after a few silly ideas we decided a S550 Mustang was the way as we haven't built a S550 either. A few months of searching found a high mile and slightly rough 2015 Ecoboost Mustang, the perfect candidate.
The new project is a replacement for the Panoz so has to be track worthy and decent to drive on the street. As new cars are getting heavier all the time we needed to shed some weight. Non-essentials are out - like AC and the monster heater box. The basic interior plastic trim will go back in and only weighs about 40 lbs all together. The stock dash will remain but be stripped down.

Making Room
The Big Hole
There's no question the Godzilla is heavier than a Coyote so key to making it work on the road course is to move it back for proper weight balance. The firewall was in the way so a bit of recip saw work made room for the engine.

Does it Fit?
Lots of room.
Just a quick mock up to see that it fits in nicely. The Godzilla is quite narrow so there's lots of header and valve cover clearance. The front of the balancer sits about centre line of the wheels.

The Godzilla
445 ci
We are using a low mile 7.3 Godzilla, we stripped it down, checked it out and it all looked good. Engine mods include light head porting, BTR Truck Norris camshaft, and Morel lifters. We will use a Holley intake so it tucks under the windshield and a 87mm GT350 throttle body. Naturally aspirated Godzillas are impressive with just a camshaft - expect 600-620hp and over 600 ft lbs of torque at 3500rpm

ECU Test Fire
Engine is running. We are using a MaxxECU on this project mainly to control the DCT transmission (more on that later) and this is the first Godzilla to run on Maxx. Wiring was pretty straight forward and Maxxecu is very configurable so it wasn't too tough to get it going. Drive by wire uses the Mustang gas pedal and variable cam timing is working.

Just arrived
Domiworks adapter to bolt a BMW DCT to the Godzilla.

Bolted Together
The Getrag DCT is from a BMW M5 and is fairly compact though taller than something like a T56. Bolting to a Godzilla or Coyote is easy with the finely machined Domiworks adapter. Set back this far, the transmission will be cozy with the driver. A custom transmission crossmember was built as well as custom engine mounts.

Making Progress
Slowly but surely
Project Guerrillazilla is making some progress. Engine and tranmission are now installed with customer mounts and long tube headers. The Mustang uses electric steering so just a good old 3G alternator needed and mounted with our Godzilla alternator bracket.

Suspension
Rear suspension is pretty straightforward. BMR cradle lockout keep things in place, BMR camber arms and toe arms for proper adjustment. Springs are a stout 1150lb rate and using ISC Race valved coil overs front and rear.

Vented Hood
We added Track Spec louvers specific for the 2015 Mustang hood. This will let some heat out and add some front end downforce with the splitter. Install is pretty easy with the supplied template. Just double check before cutting!

More Progress
Our Guerrillazilla project is just about ready to fire up in the car. Good thing it has snow tires for some testing!

Digital Dash
Maxxecu has a built in dash app that works with Android devices. We used an Atoto double din deck as they are robust and boots the dash app directly on startup. A very affordable way to do a full digital dash. Gauges are fully configurable, we threw a couple up on the screen just for startup.

Interior Changes
Sit Back. WAAAAAAY Back!
Seats are set back right to the rear bulkhead with a bit of a steering extension needed.

The DCT shifter is one of the favourite parts of build. Amazing feel and lightning fast ships, just pull back for upshift, push forward for downshift. No lift shifting built in so keep your right foot planted on the pedal.
